Now more than ever, Daily Food Bank needs our help

Since January 2021, Daily Bread's network has seen an average of 110,000 client visits per month, compared to 68,000 per month in 2019. If current usage rates continue, it is projected that Toronto food banks will see 1.4 million visits in 2021, the highest number ever recorded in the city's history.  It's more important than ever to ensure everyone's right to food is realized. That's why we're holding a fundraiser and virtual food drive to support Daily Bread Food Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

THE DRIVE IS RUNNING UNTIL OCTOBER 10

Here’s how you can help reach our $1,000 goal or donate food:

1. Click the "DONATE NOW" button to make a gift to Daily Bread and help ensure our neighbours can continue to access fresh, nutritious food – in 2021 and beyond.

2. Drop off food to any of these locations:

i. Drop off your food donations at any fire hall across the city. They are open 24/7.Find your local fire hall here:

ii. Daily Bread Food Bank’s Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food DriveOn Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. we will be hosting our contactless Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Drive event at the Daily Bread warehouse located at 191 New Toronto Street. The contactless format will allow you to remain safely in your vehicle while a team of volunteers unloads food donations from your trunk.

iii. Bring your donations directly to the Daily Bread warehouse. We’re located at 191 New Toronto St. and open for donation drop-offs Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

iv. Many grocery stores feature a donation bin where you can drop off your donations. Check with your local store!

Here are the most needed items:
Baby food
Baby formula
Peanut butter
Pasta
Pasta sauce
Canned fish (tuna in water)
Canned fruit
Canned soup
Rice
Oatmeal
Beans (lentils, kidney beans, chick peas, etc.)
100% fruit juices
Canned vegetables (tomatoes, corn, peas, etc.)

Did you know that after they've paid for housing, the average food bank client has $7.83 left per day? That's $7.83 to cover all other expenses – including food – making it impossible for them to stock the recommended supply of provisions for their family.
